Trails and Trilliums

April 9 @ 12:00 pm - April 11 @ 5:00 pm

Trillium undulatum

The Friends of South Cumberland is pleased to announce plans for our 17th Trails & Trilliums on April 9-11, which will be an outdoors-only event, with masks and social distancing. The event will again be held on the grounds of the DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle, using their ample outdoor spaces.

In place of “guided hikes” we will offer a great slate of hike choices on all three days, with a Trail Host posted at each trailhead to welcome and orient hikers. People will hike with their own group and space out along the trail.

We have a great group of presentations, demonstrations and author talks on all three days. These will take place in the outdoor spaces at DuBose with chairs set six feet apart. Registration will limit the number or participants at each event in order to keep the numbers at a safe limit.

On Saturday, April 10, we will offer a free Family Adventure Hike along the Meadow Trail at the Park Welcome Center in Monteagle. As you hike the 1.5 mile trail, you will search for hidden Fairy Houses and Gnome Homes, see pioneer re-enacters in action, explore a fort, complete a scavenger hunt, and more. Registration is required in order to spread families out over the day.

Overhill Gardens near Knoxville, one of the foremost native plant nurseries in the state, will again bring a wonderful array of native plants. Owner Avi Askey will guide you in your choices.
