Seminar: Alisha Millican on Fungus Among Us – An Intro to Fungi for the Home Gardner

July 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Master Gardener and Fungi Affectionado Alisha Millican as we breach the basics of Kingdom Fungi, give a brief overview of some common edible mushrooms, and then introduce you to some fungi that you may encounter while gardening! How do I keep mushrooms from growing in my yard? Are mushrooms safe to touch? Are these mushrooms going to hurt my plants?! Learn all this and more in this fun and approachable presentation on fungi for the home Gardener.
Alisha Millican:
A native of NE Ohio, Alisha developed a passion for wild edibles and the outdoors at a young age. After moving to the south in 2012, she eventually earned her Master Gardener certification in 2017. She actively leads the Alabama Mushroom Society as Club President, serves on the Executive Board of the North American Mycological Association, and is the Assistant Curator of Fungi for the University of West Alabama Herbarium. A dedicated advocate for promoting fungal education and stewardship, Alisha enjoys exploring nature with her husband and two children when she’s not immersed in mushroom hunting or gardening pursuits.

Seminars are held via Zoom on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Central Time (7:30 p.m. Eastern Time) and last about one hour. All members and potential members are welcome to join the meeting. The link to join this seminar is:
