Field Trip: Little Cedar Mountain

Description: This is sponsored by TNPS and TCWP. A wonderful place for spring wildflowers like spreading rockcress and wild hyacinth. If there is interest and time, we could take a second hike to see the rare native smoke tree on the Middle Cedar Mountain.

Meeting Places/Times: (1) Little Cedar Mtn. Trailhead (10:30 AM EDT, 9:30 AM CDT) I-24 exit 158, go south on TVA Road. Turn left immediately onto gravel road next to the interstate (35.03089527172869, -85.58152227403185).
(2) Oak Ridge at the Gold’s Gym/Books-A-Million parking lot (meet at the section close to S. Illinois Avenue, near Salsarita’s) in time to leave Oak Ridge at 8:00 AM EDT,
Difficulty: If you walk the whole loop, it’s a bit over three miles. There are two short climbs if you complete the loop.
Lunch: Bring water, lunch, and bug spray
Facilities: None at trailhead
