January 18, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Dave Walters & Dr. Cindi Smith-Walters
Dave Walters is a certified forester who recently retired from the Tennessee State Division of Forestry. He is a 40+ year member (and former president) of the Society of American Foresters, and serves on the Tennessee Steering Committee for Project Learning Tree, an international and award-winning environmental education curriculum project. He earned his BS at Oklahoma State University and his MS at Tennessee State University. He views himself as a “forester, facilitator, woodworker”.
Dave’s wife, Dr. Cindi Smith-Walters, retired in 2020 from her position as a professor of Biology and Director of the Center for Environmental Education at MTSU. With a PhD in Environmental Science, she has been a dedicated leader in environmental education in the state for decades, personally training thousands of educators to use Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, and Project WET to improve student learning and promote stewardship. Cindi is a past president and Fellow of the Tennessee Academy of Science, was named the National PLT Outstanding Educator in 2012 and has received numerous university faculty awards.
Their seminar on Winter Tree Identification promises to be a lively event.
