Wild Honeysuckle
Rhododendron canescens

This small shrub is usually found as isolated individuals scattered throughout acidic forests across
Tennessee.  The fragrant pink flowers are over an inch in diameter and occur in clusters along the ends of
the branches.  The similar Pinxterflower (Rhododendron periclymenoides) is typically colonial, forming large
patches.  These wild azaleas bloom in mid-spring.
