Purple Gerardia
Agalinis purpurea
This is a very common species of prairies and grasslands throughout the state, but particularly Middle and
East Tennessee. The striking pinkish-purple flowers emerge in late summer to early fall and are relatively
large for an Agalinis species, reaching an inch in diameter. Another common name is purple false foxglove
for its similarity to foxgloves.
