Antelope-Horn Milkweed
Asclepias viridis
These perennials can be found in the glades and barrens of Middle Tennessee, though it is
quite uncommon. The flowers are very atypical of most milkweeds, lacking the "hood and horn"
structure that the majority of the species employ. The flowers are quite large for a milkweed as
well because the corolla lobes do not reflex. The candy-scented blossoms can be an inch wide,
and as is evident from the species name, green.
